My Light out of the Dark

God Knows When – July 7, 2025

You came into my life on October 30th, 2016 as my first foster with eight 2-3 week old puppies in toe. I begged the rescue to take a chance on me and allow me to care for you and your babies, having no previous experience outside of my 6-year-old Sapphy dog. You were already fully grown and had likely lived a lifetime of experiences. 25lbs underweight and emaciated – giving everything you had left to your puppies, I took you home and you never left.

You took 2 weeks to wag your tail and start to come out of your shell, unsure if it was safe to trust anyone. Your goofy personality started to come out more and more every day – and our bond grew. Deep down, I knew from the moment I saw you I’d never let you go.

You were many different things – a horse, a giraffe, a bulldozer, a violent upside-down snuggler.. you’d wail like a hyena and tornado-tail in excitement, shed on everyone who came into your life while worming your way into their hearts within seconds. Above all – you were the fluffy love of my life.

You came into my life at my lowest point, and you saved me as much as I saved you. You brought so much joy and chaos into my day-to-day. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to love you for almost 9 years.

Until we meet again my Vera dog.🌈
